Paris Paralympics 2024: The Paralympic Committee of India, also known as PCI, was established in 1994, five years subsequent to the formation of the International Paralympic Committee in 1989. The country first participated in the Paralympics in 1968 and has been present in every Summer Paralympic Games since 1984. This particular occurrence of the Games represented the nation's 13th involvement in the Summer Paralympics. India has accumulated 31 medals in total from various Paralympic Games, with its most triumphant Paralympic endeavor being the 2020 Tokyo edition, claiming 19 medals, including five gold, eight silver, and six bronze medals.
In the Paralympic Games, India entered a team of 84 athletes participating in 12 different sports. Bhagyashree Jadhav and Sumit Antil carried the flag during the opening ceremony, while Preethi Pal and Harvinder Singh will do the honor during the closing ceremony. With seven gold, nine silver, and thirteen bronze medals, India has won 29 medals. India also achieved a record-breaking number of medals at the Paralympics during the Games.
