| Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective? |

| Some experts are of the viewpoint that the most appropriate policy to resolve the traffic and the enviromental challenges is to escalate the cost of fossil fuels. To a major extent I differ with this opinion; and also other remedial as well as productive suggestions can be thought upon. Both, my preference and the solutions are discussed further. |

| Attending the former question as mentioned, I vote against the idea of increasing the financial value of the fuel to a large extent. The primary concern here is that such an increment can retard the world economy. It is undoubtedly true that oil and gas play a fundamental role in almost all economies worldwide. As per survey, 80% of all businesses are sensitive to the petrol cost. To add to this, if the cost of fuel increases, the price of their transport also does; thus, leading to hike in the prices of goods. I also fear that such a rise can limit people's freedom of movement and travel. This can create further issues. |

| However, we must not overlook the convincing and practical steps that could be taken to help control the issues of traffic jams and pollution. Most importantly, the governments must focus on improving their mass transit system. That is, the frequency of the public transport, comfort, cost, facilities and discounts may attract more to commute by these modes. For instance, by improving the TTC services in Toronto, Canada decreased 25% of traffic jams, road accidents and a lot of resultant pollution. Moreover, the scientists must research for other alternative sources as solar, nuclear or wind power. |
| Conclusion |
| All in all, it can be eventually commented that indeed increasing the cost of fossil fuel is one of the most outstanding way to reduce the bother of traffic and pollution; however, in my perception, this can hurt the world economy and therefore, a more practical and useful ways must be thought upon. Public transport promotion can help a lot. |
